How to Make a Free QR Code with a QR Code Generator (Step by Step)

Making a QR code with a QR code generator takes thirty seconds. The real difference starts after you print it: what happens when the destination changes? This guide covers both the fast way and the right way.
1. Decide what the code is for
- Link — website, biolink page, campaign URL.
- PDF / file — brochure, price list, catalogue.
- Wi-Fi — guest network name and password; the scanning phone connects automatically.
- Business card (vCard) — name, phone, email; scanning saves the contact.
- Image / audio — straight to a single media file.
2. Generate it
- Open the QR code generator on the Tools page, or sign in and go to QR Codes → New.
- Pick the content type and enter the address or details.
- Choose a design: ten ready presets — dot shape, corner style, colour and gradient each adjustable.
- Drop your logo in the middle. Error correction rises automatically so the code stays readable.
- Download as PNG (screen), SVG (print, infinite resolution) or JPEG/WEBP.
3. Always test before printing
Scan it with a phone. Use a dark code on a light background; inverted contrast fails on some cameras. Leave a quiet zone of at least one module around the code. Print-size rule of thumb: scanning distance ÷ 10. Readable from one metre means at least 10 cm.
4. Dynamic QR codes: change the destination after printing
A static code embeds the address inside the code; change the address and the code is waste. A dynamic QR code carries a short redirect address instead: you change the target in the panel, the printed code stays the same. For menu cards, posters and vehicle wraps it's the only sensible choice. On Linkspot every QR code is dynamic, and you see how often, when and from which device it was scanned.
QR code + biolink together
The most efficient setup: print one QR code on your card or shopfront and point it at your biolink page. Change the links on the page as often as you like; never reprint the code.
