The Power of Minimalist Design

On a bio link page, a visitor's attention is limited and their time is short. Simplicity isn't an aesthetic preference; it's a measurable conversion tool: fewer options, faster decisions.

The five-link rule

No more than five links in the first screen. Anything beyond that gets pushed below the fold, and what's below the fold goes unseen. If you have ten links, group five of them under a “More” heading.

One highlight

One featured block. Two featured blocks have the same effect as none.

Whitespace is a design element

Space between blocks lets the page breathe. Minimal themes keep spacing generous; it also reduces mis-taps with the thumb on small screens.

Typography

One font family, two weights. Bold for the heading, regular for links. Fonts in LinkSpot are served locally; no loading delay, no text shifting.

Color

Background, text and a single accent. If you use a background image, put a semi-transparent layer over it so the text stays readable.

Icons

Not every link needs an icon in front of it. Use icons only to tell types apart: video, store, contact.

Minimal themes

The clean themes in the theme gallery are built on exactly these principles: generous spacing, flat colors, high contrast. Pick one and change only the accent color to match your brand.

Measure

Publish the simplified version for a week and compare the click-through rate with the week before. On most pages the rate goes up; if it doesn't, a link you removed was actually needed, so put it back.
